Life Story for
Dennis Dionysios Vassos
Born February 14, 1931. Passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 11, 2018 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Voula and loving father of Adam, Father-in-Law to Helene, and Grandfather of Dion and Christopher, Dennis was loved and adored by his family, and he will be remembered for his calm, quiet stoicism, as well as his desire to always learn more about the world he lived in. Whether it was through reading, speaking, or listening, Dennis approached life with a sense of reverent wonder. He loved to read books about famous figures and places, and watch old films that reminded him of the world he had grown up in as a young man. In his later years, he would sometimes read Wikipedia articles for hours, and marvel at all of the new information that was now only a quick search away. He always made an effort stay connected with those he loved both in Canada and abroad, and to check up on the well-being of his family. He took great pride in his growing family and their accomplishments, and would beam at the news of every graduation, engagement, marriage, and child-birth. Many of us will remember him as he so often could be found - sitting in the front porch of his home in East York, where he would read his books and newspapers, or speak on the phone with his brothers and sisters in Canada, Greece, and Australia. We are blessed to have shared so many wonderful memories with him and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held at HERITAGE FUNERAL CENTRE, 50 Overlea Blvd. (416) 423-1000 on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. A funeral service will be held in St. Demeterios Greek Orthodox Church at 10:00am on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
