Obituary

Constantinos Dean Kapsalis was Born on April 20th, 1930 in Anogia Sparta Greece. Passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2019 surrounded by his family and beloved wife of 63 years Fotina

Dean will be remembered by many, but particularly by his children Angela and husband Larry, Mary and husband Dimitri and Peter and his wife Pauline; and by his seven grandchildren Virginia, Panagiota, Fotini, James, Tiffany, Theodore and Costa; and seven great grandchildren.

Dean immigrated to Canada in 1955 from Greece. A man of humble beginnings he began making a new life for himself in Toronto. He worked long shifts at Canada Bread to earn enough money to bring his beloved fiancé Fotina to Canada. In 1956 Fotina arrived and they married. They started their family and like most trailblazers of his time, worked towards a better future for his wife and children.

In 1959 while maintaining their regular day jobs, Dean and Fotina began the first weekly Greek radio program in Toronto. Staying connected to their cultural roots while supporting a newly developing Greek Community transition into a new country.

Dean was a generous man, full of energy, courage, and persistence. In the late 60’s he began the Omega Music Company, installing juke boxes and pinballs into local establishment. The 70’s onward brought way to the era of Pac Man, video games and other amusement devices.

After 25 years in the amusement business, Dean retired spending much of his time with his adoring wife Fotina and family traveling to and from Greece and other parts of the world. In his last years, Dean spent his time enjoying his garden and spending time with his family and friends.

He will be sadly missed by all.

The family will receive friends at HERITAGE FUNERAL CENTRE 50 Overlea Blvd., Toronto 416-423-1000 on Sunday, February 24 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. & Monday, February 25 from 5-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 26 at ST. JOHN’S GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH 1385 Warden Ave at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Pine Hills Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Tomorrow we will lay my father's body to rest. His spirit and soul will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. He was a man who was brave (Spartan Strong) and never had fear (Molon Labe) including his last breath. Times like these we are blessed to have so many loved ones around us to easy our souls and reminisce the great times we had with him. My father would have wanted me to tell you all "thank you for being in my life". I miss you daddy
