Obituary

For Mom Christina Glarentzos

Christina was born In Vresthena Sparta, oldest of 3 sisters, Maria, Voula and daughter of Eleni Stammatopoulos and Panagiotis Moschoritis.

Moms beautiful mountainous village of Vresthena is located just 20 kilometers from Sparta. Mom had loving parents growing up as child but sadly had seen her mom passed away when she was only 12 years old during the WW2 German occupation of Greece. Mom was forced to grow up very fast with the support of her aunt, dad and became an instant great leader and supporter for her younger sisters. After the war, mom and her family moved to a large beautiful Greek town named Egion and began to learn the profession of becoming a professional seamstress.

Mom developed great Spartan strength and energy as a young girl and protected her family with great determination and will. Mom developed her strong moral, ethical character early in life, hardworking, honest, truthful, caring, great empathy for the unfortunate, responsible, generous, classy, charming, very straightforward with people, enjoyed life ,very religious with great faith in God and hope in life.

Mom was very poor when she came to Montreal Canada with her now husband George in 1958 to start a new life. Mom became a top professional seamstress in fashion industry and was extremely hard working and top rated in her profession. Mom then moved to Toronto and married her husband George. Mom also did not leave behind her sisters in Greece as she brought Voula and Maria to Canada and did a great job of being a mentor and mother to them. Mom and dad were hard working and developed a family soon after with 2 great loving children in Peter and Evangelia. Mom was always very proud of her children and protected, loved, guided and supported them like no other mother. Mom sacrificed for her family and was able to quickly buy a building on Clinton and continued to buy properties in the future.

Mom played a major in the Greek Community for many years and not only was a committed church goer but also bought a church with relatives, Agia Triatha priest Papazakos. Mom showed her great big heart, love and caring through the church and also supported her sisters in developing their successful new lives in Canada.

Mom proudly watched her children grow up and always watched out for them as adults. Mom always provided her children with words of guidance and encouragement including “may the dirt you touch turn into gold” and always “pray to god to be with you” and will continue to do so in her spirit. Mom’s great love and caring for her husband George throughout their 60 years of marriage will also continue in great spirit.
Mom will be very sorely missed as she played a strong leadership, loving and caring role for so many people in her life. Mom greatly enriched the lives of other people who were fortunate to know her and will always be very lovingly and fondly remembered, respected and honored. Moms loving spirit will remain strong with her family, relatives, friends and the other lives she touched.

Mom….Peter, George, Maria, Voula and Evangelia thank you for so very much and being such a big part of our lives with your boundless love, big heart , loving spirit, strength and compassion . We will continue to honor you mom in life and heaven.

We wish you mom to rest in peace with God who loves you so much. Mom we know your mother and father loved you so much and now you will be very happy to see them in heaven again.

Mom we look forward to seeing you soon with your great spirit, heart of gold and great love so that we can continue to have very happy loving times again.

God bless you mom.

Love your son Peter, husband George and sisters Maria & Voula.

Mom and the Xilalonia in Egion Greece....

As a child, mom and her sisters would always go with their to the beautiful town square called Xilalonia in Egion. The Xilalonia has a beautiful vast view of the the ocean , mountains and beaches in the town and was the favourite place for mom to go for a walk and share great fun times with her family and friends!!

Mom and sister Maria would often sit on the benches that faced the sea and mountains and they often enjoyed many conversations and ice creams! With their dad they would sometimes have an ouzo in water as he would encourage his daughters to enjoy the shows and plays that would go on and also to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. In the later years son Peter and mom and dad with relatives would visit the Xilalonia and a great tradition carried on!! Mom and I one year went to the Xilalonia 14 times on a trip and every time seemed like the first as there were always new activities and things to see and enjoy! Sitting with mom on the same benches she sat on as a kid is a priceless and loving eternal experience :) I will never forget these beautiful moments we shared...

Mom we will always have you in our hearts, spirits, souls and minds each day and for eternity... we all talk about the great moments we had with you and hope to see you again one day sitting on the same bench enjoying the view together again :)

Peter,

My sincere condolences for the loss of your mom. We have know each other for almost 30 years. Our mothers had a lot in common. Your mom has always been a strong pious woman that held the family together.

Having lost a few family members in the past 7 years+, I can understand how difficult it is to lose a family member, never mind a “mother”; never mind a special mom like yours.

Eternity takes place through living and sharing the person’s values and memories. Your mom will live forever through you; practicing what she taught you and living what she taught you.

You have always been a good compassionate son and continue to do so with your dad. Christina will always live in our thoughts, memories and prayers!

Stay strong my friend! This is what Christina wanted!

Love,

Jason

Renovation stories with my beloved wife .....

Christina could have been a professional renovation design expert given all her experience and work she did on all the houses and buildings over the years!! My beloved wife learned from a young age with the building at Clinton where she painted, drywall work, renovations that brought great value to the building when we sold it to by another building, a new house in great Don Mills neighborhood and co owned a church too!!

In her later years, Christina would watch contractors closely doing renovation work mostly indoors on kitchens, bathrooms and several apartments...the contractors compared notes with Christina and always told the family how great she was at designing and ensuring all the right materials were used and contractors did a great job...at a good price!! She would love to watch the contractors work and made sure she would be involved fully in each days work....even just sitting down and watching, the contractors knew the best quality control was Christina! Of course the mentor, Christina taught her loving son Peter a lot on how to renovate and design and had him involved in renovating the cottage where he learned flooring, bathrooms, kitchens and more! Peter had a beautiful deck built for Christina in her last years that she loved so much and was proud of how her husband , son for getting the job done right!

Everyone really really misses you by beloved wife and life partner, thank you so much for all that you did for me over so many years....how you take of care me so well when sick, the love , caring and toughness you brought to me made me a much better person then when I first met you...eternal gratitude and love my dear wife:)

See you in heaven by blessed, beloved Christinaki ,
Georgo
