Obituary

Armanios, Ezzat H.
1937 – 2019
Retired Principal, Toronto District School Board and educational consultant passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto on Tuesday July 30, 2019 at the age of 82. Ezzat’s conviction, determination and fortitude in everything he did were exemplary – right to the end.
Ezzat was the cherished father “Baba” of Moni (Richard Harrison) and son Mourad, adored Geddo (grandfather) of Ben. He will be sorely missed by his special friend Sandra Tondat, his sister Insaf, and his brother Yousry (Mona) and sister in-law Sohair. He was dearly loved by his many nieces and nephew and all members of his extended family. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Hekmet and his father Helmi, his brothers Safwat and Dr. Zaher Armanios.
Ezzat was a loyal friend, outstanding educator and mentor.
He had a knack for making lifelong friends everywhere – in Egypt, England, Ireland, Canada and the US – and at the Toronto Bridge Club and he truly treasured his many friendships. He loved life, was known for his tremendous sense of humor and great mind and he was a hero to many. His smile and his charm drew people to him, and he will be missed!
Ezzat was an example to us all on how to live one’s life, and we will remember him with love, admiration and many fond memories.
The family wishes to thank the D6 nursing staff at Sunnybrook Hospital for their dedication and care. They also wish to thank Dr. Susan Coish and Dr. Debbie Selby for their care and compassion. They all made a difference.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at HERITAGE FUNERAL CENTRE, 50 Overlea Blvd. (416) 423-1000 on Saturday, August 10th, 2019 at 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to Toronto Foundation for Student Success or the Canadian Cancer Society. Directions, donations and online condolences may be found at www.heritagefuneralcentre.ca

My amazing teacher & very good friend from the 70's at Eastern Commerce High School.
We have kept in touch & became good friends after I left Eastern. Mr. Armanios you were one of a kind. I don't know another human like you. You treated all your students with so much respect. Everyone loved you. You were such a caring, thoughtful, funny, honest man. You loved life & lived it your way. I can still see you walking the halls of Eastern with a big smile saying hello to everyone & even chatting with some students. I have never seen you mad in all the years I have known you. You helped many students with personal problems giving good advice. You would go out of your way to help anyone on your own time. I'm so sorry & devastated that you got ill & couldn't be with us any more.
You are such a strong person & put everyone before yourself. I will always cherish our friendship. R.I.P. My dear sweet friend. You will be missed but never forgotten. My heart goes out to all of Mr. Armanio's family. Tuck all the wonderful memories of him in your heart. My deepest sympathy.

During my 4 years as a student at Eastern Commerce, Ezzat Armanios was not only a mentor to me but a friend. His passion as a director of the school plays and for all students at the school are longstanding memories of mine. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always brightened my day when I spoke with him. I will miss him greatly.

A very very fine gentle man, and a killer bridge player. Toronto Bridge Club will feel empty without you
